Everton vs Wolves
Carlo Ancelotti spoke of his disappointment at his side’s 1-0 defeat to Sheffield United at the weekend, ending their already faint hopes of Champions League football for next season and casting serious doubt over their Europa League qualification. You’d expect anything other than a win here would end those chances too with a current three point gap to seventh, so there’s little doubt this will be a full strength Everton side.
The downfall for the Toffees this season has undoubtedly been their form at Goodison Park, with a lack of fans proving more of an obstacle for the Merseyside club than any other side in the league.
Eight of Everton’s last nine victories have come by a single strike, with each of the last four finishing 1-0, giving the correct score some serious weight when considering Wolves’ goalscoring record against that top eight bracket, while the one goal winning margin also has some merit. The head to heads are unsurprisingly in favour of the hosts, too, with Wolves winning just once here in six Premier League meetings, with each of Everton’s last three victories coming by just one goal.
