Manchester United vs Everton
Elation for Man Utd, as they put nine goals past a depleted 10-man Southampton during the week. They won’t get too carried away with that victory though considering the Saints are on a current run of four straight league defeats, but it’ll still give them confidence heading into the weekend.
Everton won their midweek game too, but not quite in the same emphatic fashion. That 2-1 victory over Leeds sees them back on track for a European spot, after a slight hiccup at the end of January when drawing with Leicester and losing to an out of touch Newcastle side.
They’ve gone W6-D1-L2 from their nine outings dating back to early December, beating all of Chelsea, Leicester and Arsenal.
The Red Devils continue to try and keep up with their Manchester rivals at the top of the table. They’ve gone an impressive W11-D4-L1 from their 16 outings since beating the Toffees in the reverse fixture back in early November. That includes a much-improved record at Old Trafford, winning five of their seven here.
However, each of those four draws came from their five most recent outings against top-half sides, winning the other against Aston Villa.
That victory did only come by a one goal margin though, with the winner coming in true Man Utd style through a controversial penalty decision, while 75% of those stalemates finished goalless.
