An analysis of nine matches that will be played in the UEFA Europa League UEL on Thursday, the 18th of February is here below.
20:55 Red Star Belgrade vs AC Milan
After finishing second in group L of the UEL Read Star Belgrade now take on Italian giants AC Milan for the first time since 2006. The hosts are clear at the top of the Supa Liga table. Group H winners AC Milan enter this match as favourites despite losing three of their last five competitive matches and losing top spot in Serie A.
My prediction: AC Milan will win
20:55 Braga vs Roma
Sporting Braga enter this UEL knockout clash unbeaten in seven competitive matches (W5, D2). They are also unbeaten in UEL home fixtures this term (W2, D1) after scoring 2+ goals on each occasion. Roma, now managed by ex-Braga boss Paulo Fonseca, have won three of their last four competitive matches after scoring 3+ goals in each win.
My prediction: over 2.5 goals.
23:00 Lille vs Ajax
Lille most recently faced Ajax only last season (in the UCL group stage) losing both games without a reply. Currently, on the domestic scene, Lille have intensified their title charge while Ajax's march towards the Eredivisie title looks almost certain. We should expect them to bring their deadly form into this clash.
My prediction: over 2.5 goals
23:00 Granada CF vs Napoli
The Spanish side have failed to win in six of their last seven competitive matches, beating only the third tier side Navalcarnero in the domestic cup during the run. They are far from being considered home favourites. Napoli topped Group H (W3,D2,L1) and snapped their recent winless streak after beating Juventus 1-0 last time out. The visitors will be aiming to end a four-game losing streak away from Diego Armando Maradona Stadium, with the last two seeing them down 2-0 at half-time.
My prediction: over 0.5 goals in first half
23:00 Benfica vs Arsenal
Avoiding defeat in this season's UEL group stage (W3,D3), Benfica have established themselves as this tournament's great entertainers with every match producing over 2.5 goals.
My prediction: over 1.5 goals
20:55 Young Boys vs Leverkusen
The hosts under Gerardo Seoane are undefeated in three domestic home league matches(W3). Interestingly, each of those three matches saw them score the opening goal before the 20th minute.
My prediction: over 0.5 goals in HT
20:55 Wolfsberger AC vs Tottenham
With no draw in six competitive away matches this Calendar year for Tottenham, there's been no shortage of entertainment- those fixtures produced an average of 4.5 goals per game.
My prediction: 0.5 goals in first half
20:55 Slavia Prague vs Leicester
Czech champions Slavia Prague have a tough tie against UEL debutants Leicester City especially considering that Leicester are enjoying a spell of good form, including a 3-1 comeback victory over Liverpool over the weekend.
My prediction: Leicester City will win
20:55 Real Sociedad vs Manchester United
Real Sociedad travel to neutral Turin for their first leg of their round of 32 clash with Manchester United. They come into this contest after winning consecutive competitive fixtures for the first time since Nov 2020-both with a HT lead. Manchester United took points in just one of their three away trips in an unsuccessful UEFA Champions League UCL campaign despite scoring all on three occasions. They have not lost away from Old Trafford since the end of their UCL tilt.
My prediction: Manchester United will win
