Brakes are one of the most important parts of a car. This is because they allow one to drive faster. Even though brake failure is not common, it can occur to anyone, anywhere without any warning. If you are driving a manual car and the brakes fail, there is no need to worry as you probably know how to handle the situation. However when it comes to vehicles with automatic transmission, most people will always tell you to use the handbrake. This might not end up well especially if you are at very high speeds and nervous.
If your brakes fail and the car that you are driving has a start or stop engine button, stopping your car might be easier that you think. This is because all you have to do is to long press the button for ten seconds and you engine will stop running. This will cause the vehicle to reduce its speed gradually till it comes to a stop. You can then proceed by applying the hand brakes to ensure your vehicle doesn't move.
The method above should only be used as a last resort and on a clear road with no traffic.
