Counties Commemorate World Food Day

Chief officer Agriculture Mr. Wasike, has led staff from the department of Agriculture, Famers and key stakeholders in marking the world food day, at sangalo Agricultural show ground. 

Dubbed "Grow, Nourish, Sustain together, our Actions are our future", this year's celebrations aims at raising awareness about importance of food nutrition to communities across the country.

The Department of Agriculture used the better part of the celebrations to sensitize farmers and Agricultural stakeholders on the need to observe food safety, food security as well as Nutrition. 

Speaking on behalf of the CECM Agriculture, Hon. Mathews Makanda, Chief officer Agriculture, Mr. Wasike called on the public to strive in making a difference through small capabilities such as sharing food with those who can't afford to have a meal. 

 "We must promise ourselves to share the little that we have with those who lack. let us strive to make a difference with our small actions, especially today". He said. 

"Preserving access to safe and nutritious food is and will continue to be an essential part in response to the current pandemic, particularly to the poor and valnurable groups" added Wasike.

The celebrations gave a platform to more than 20 Stakeholders and partners in Agriculture and technology to showcase and also exhibit latest Agricultural technology and promotion of value chains including Beans, Bananas, Bee keeping, Fodder production, sweet potatoes among others. It's through this showcasing that saw farmers and Stakeholders awarded. 

These stakeholders were; WHH( promotes soil protection ), SEND A COW, SEED CO, KENYA SEED, PANNAR, PIONEER SEED COMPANY, NARIGP GROUPS , Western Seed, among others. 

The event attracted over 500 Farmers.
