How to make money in Tomato farming

Tomato farming is one of the most successful business in East Africa. It is well known that tomatoes do very well in East Africa soils. Tomatoes always have good ready market, almost every family do consume tomatoes everyday. They usually do well in acidic soils with a ph of 6.2.Tomatoes have a short maturity period. After they are transparanted tomatoes take two months to be ready for the market. There are several varieties of tomatoes in the market. Research show that Kilele f1 and Rio grande does very well and are resistance to disease. There are also other varieties one need to choose his or her taste. You can now prepare your nursery bed. It should be raised from the ground to make it easier during transpranting. You should sow your seed just one centimeter to increase the rate of germination. Tomatoes takes only 8 days to germinate. You can transplant your seedlings after about one month. The seedlings should be 5 to 6 inches from the ground. It advisable to apply some DAP fertilizer during planting. One can later top up after 3 weeks using CAN fertilizer. Tomatoes are ready for the market after 75 days of planting. One kg goes at a price of 50 shillings although it depends with locations and time. Please like and share.
