Sombre Mood After a 6-Year-Old Boy Is Burnt To Death In Nyeri Allegedly By His Step Father

Residents of Karima Ward in Othaya Nyeri county have woken to a bizarre scene after a six year old boy was burnt to death in a late night inferno.

According to sources the fire in kwangechu village left one child dead as the rest of the family sustained serious injuries during the night fire.

Reliable sources have it that the fire broke at around 2 am last night and all means by the family to extinguish it proved futile as they lacked good equipments.

One of the neighbor's David Mwangi talking to the media said the family was overwhelmed by the huge fire as they tried to resue the young man who was still trapped in his bedroom.

"We heard people screaming for help and when we rushed to the scene we were welcomed by huge flames and smoke emanating from the building, he said.(photos courtesy soft news)

Cause of Inferno

The area chief James Karanja talking to kameme fm said the cause of the fire still remained a mystery but they were suspecting foul play.

It's said the mother of the young man had previously had a heated altercation with the man now belived to be the boy's step father before they separated .

Police from Othaya toured the scene and said a thorough investigation as to what caused the inferno will be conducted and all those involved will be held accountable.

The body of the young boy who was a student at Pema kindergarten was taken to Othaya sub-county mortuary.source Kameme fm
